Riverclan / RiverClan Guide
« Last post by morpheus on December 04, 2012, 07:12:01 pm »RiverClan's name shows off immediately their main strength -- comfort in the water. Part of apprentice training is to learn how to swim and fight in the liquid, giving these cats an edge over the high-and-dry Clans. Most RiverClanners have thick pelts to keep the water from chilling them too badly, especially during leafbare!
Ranks
(*'s are high positions)
*Leader - Leads the Clan, final say in everything, guides cats.
*Deputy - Takes over after Leader dies, organizes patrols, helps lead Clan, also acts as the head of the guard.
*Medicine cat - Heals the sick and injured, interprets omens.
*Medicine cat apprentice - Apprenticed to the medicine cat, learning the ways of herbs.
(Semi-high position) Lifeguards - Cats who guard the water and are the best swimmers, who also act as camp guards when needed.
Warriors - The bulk of the Clan.
Apprentices - Each assigned to a warrior to train them, generally cats from 6 to 12 moons.
Kits - Kittens! They become apprentices at six moons.
Queens - She-cats expecting or nursing kits.
Elders - The older cats of the Clan, often the strongest and the wisest.
Territory and Camp
RiverClan's camp is one of the most easily defensible. It lies on a small island in the middle of a wide pond, spanning the center of their territory. A single tree sprouts from the center, and the warriors, deputy, and leader share it as a home. The warrior's den is inside the hollow trunk, and the leader's is woven from branches and vines, more of a hammock than a den. The medicine cat has their den located in the tangle of roots at the base, next to the nursery and elder's den. Apprentices sleep closest to the water, but they only get wet during floods. For the pregnant, elderly, and young, a single fallen pine tree provides easy access to the main land, though it is extremely simple to defend.
Their pond links by a thin stream to a smaller one, more of a puddle, that is also used as the edge of ThunderClan's territory. On their other side is the thick, foaming river that cuts them off from the moors of WindClan. Their territory is marshy and wet through leaffall and newleaf, though it grows dry in greenleaf and freezes during leafbare. Reeds grow everywhere that isn't covered in water, and occasionally cats will catch water voles there. Otherwise, the majority of their diet is composed of fish caught from the many water sources.
Religion
Though most RiverClan cats believe in StarClan, they have no real religion. They go to meetings and interpret omens, but cats are free to believe in whatever sky they so choose. Even the Dark Forest is welcomed, as long as the cats who believe in them don't cause any trouble. Their real religion is looking out for the Clan, and that takes up more time than they have for rituals.
